“I thought I would update you on my progress since attending the Interview for Success workshop. I graduated from Inland Empire Job Corps in October of last year and was hired as a bookkeeper/payroll clerk in January through the SBETA website. One of the main reasons I got the job was due to the awesome resume Ms. Lindsay Cicero helped me create! I really enjoy what I do and am enrolling for accounting classes at my local community college so I can become a Certified Public Accountant I am also taking some Spanish courses to improve on my Spanish speaking skills. My goals have changed since I went to the workshop but change is good and I can honestly say I am very proud of all the things I have been able to accomplish since then.”

Hi, my name is Rebecca Duncan. I was born and raised on the west side of Compton. I transitioned to San Bernardino to become a part of the Inland Empire Job Corps. Being raised in Compton, they don’t have programs like WLC Interview for Success workshop. I attended the workshop with other friends from Job Corps and we all agreed that the WLC workshop was amazing. You get to meet with other girls that have a similar background like you, and it makes you feel accepted. I learned how to dress and wear make-up properly in the professional field, as well as how to spice up my resume.
Before the WLC workshop, I was unstable and confused. After seeing all the women and young ladies empower each other, I know have stability. I have my own apartment and I have a great job. I’m truly at peace. I wish all the girls that are attending this year’s WLC Interview for Success workshop to do as much listening as you can. It got me a long way. I also want to say thank you to all the women who thought enough of us, to give us the opportunity to advance in life.
